Timothy T. Shaw
Managing Partner
Bringing institutional banking discipline to every business owner we serve.
Timothy T. Shaw is a commercial banking and corporate finance executive with more than two decades of experience in middle-market lending, credit underwriting, capital structuring, and mergers and acquisitions. As Managing Partner of Life Advisors, he leads the firm’s strategic direction and sets the standards by which client engagements are evaluated, structured, and executed.
Tim built his career at some of the most recognized institutions in commercial banking, including LaSalle Bank (ABN AMRO), HSBC, PNC Bank, Mercantil Commercebank, and Popular Bank. He began as a Senior Credit Analyst, underwriting commercial credit facilities of $15 million to $100 million for acquisitions, recapitalizations, syndications, and working capital needs. He went on to hold Vice President roles leading middle-market and international corporate banking relationships across Florida and the Southeastern United States.
At HSBC, he managed a $1.0 billion international corporate banking portfolio, overseeing the analysis, underwriting, structuring, and documentation of loan proposals. At LaSalle Bank, he expanded the regional middle-market franchise into the Carolinas and Texas, represented a client in a $45 million M&A transaction, and facilitated a $100 million cross-border credit facility. He was twice honored there with ABN AMRO’s Pride and Success Award. His later roles at PNC Bank, Mercantil Commercebank, and Popular Bank deepened his relationships with business owners throughout Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties.
Beyond banking, Tim has advised companies directly on complex transactions. As Executive M&A Advisor to a multi-state vascular and podiatry practice group, he secured $60 million in senior financing to fund acquisitions in Florida, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. Earlier, as Managing Director of JTJ International, he guided Latin American companies entering the U.S. market on strategy, acquisitions, and operations.
Tim holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Miami, with concentrations in Investments, Corporate Finance, and International Marketing. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in International Finance and Marketing from Florida State University, which he completed in three years.
Having spent much of his career on the lender’s side of the table, Tim understands how credit is assessed, how capital structures are built, and how quickly stacked merchant cash advance obligations can erode a company’s operating capacity. At Life Advisors, he applies that perspective to help business owners understand their obligations clearly, weigh their options honestly, and pursue restructuring strategies grounded in the realities of their cash flow.
